Pets are mainly for buffs or additional attacks when soloing, they take up a slot in your party. I considered maining a caster until I realized that charging an attack means immediate aggro, and that they had no decent damaging abilities with less than a 1.5 second cast time.Īt any rate, this would be a simple fix: Either add a way for us to send pets/mercs in first (most ideal fix) or give us the ability to simply turn off autoattack. What genius thought it was a good idea that someone simply charging a skill should warrant the aggro of a mob immediately, anyway? The game doesn't seem to have any way to send a pet/merc into the battle first, and that's honestly a crying shame, because it lessens the utility of both the mentioned systems. I also agree with the OP that attacking once and running around, or similar shenanigans to delay autoattack are not acceptable. Go attack this." and they will do so, and hold aggro until such a time that you're able to pull it off. In every mmorpg ever, where pets/mercs can be utilized, there is always a way for you to tell that pet/merc "Hey. I don't understand how folks are having such a rough time grasping this concept. Then it's just a matter of waiting for your pet to get the first hit in. I think this is a melee range skill though so it might not work with Timid nature.Īlso you could try using a quick non-offensive skill to tell your pet to attack, something like Dodge from the Assassin skill for example. The skill Rage Attack generates high aggro, so you could turn other skills off and make it use only that if you want it to tank more. Sturdy is the best nature for a tanking pet, but you can't have both Sturdy and Timid so it would need to hit things before levelling up the skill. It'd be the easiest to level skills with. I think the easiest one to do what you're after would be Bow/Bowgun/Magic Device - Skill Boost - Timid nature. Here's a basic guide to pets if that helps at all? No wonder hunting bosses wasn't doing much. You can very quickly level up your pet skills using storm this way since 300 kills = a pet skill level up. Gentle pets can t attack at all however, but Timid pets can attack outside of a 4m range, making it ideal for pets with Magic Devices or Bows. If your pet has a timid or gentle nature then they will level up skills without even needing to use them. Note: As long as your Pet hits the mob, the pet will get Skill EXP for all the Activated Skill (IF you OFF the skills in Actions Settings, then no Skill EXP gained for that skill) Just need to press F for the auto attack and the cycle will go to:Īuto Attack -> Pet Hit Mob -> Mob Die -> Back to 1st Step Now if you have Giga Speed (for yourself) or Quick Motion(Support skill that adds to ASPD, affect the whole PT including your pets - as long the skill line is connected), so you can practically 'AFK' while you watch your favourite anime, movies. If its hard to find a mob, switch to a lower attack Staff (the most basic one, so your damage becomes lower) Then adjust/find a mob where your once you hit it, your pet damage will end up killing it. See how much damage your pet is attacking for. Means your normal attack hits at a range (depending on Power Wave skill level).Īlso turn on your Battle Log for Damage Dealt. The fastest way to do it is by auto-attacking. Yes casting will work but I am trying to level pet skills and Familiar lightning usually knocks out the enemy in one shot.
